This is a very concise and detailed set, and it spans from the must-know knowledge of suturing techniques to advanced fancy surgeries. The diagrams that lead the reader from one step to the next are simple and easy to understand. It was a gorgeous buy, and definitely recommend it to anyone starting surgery in their veterinary course!

This book helped me in many complicated surgical situations when I was a new grad in 2007. This book and Fossum should help anyone practicing in an area where surgeries cannot be referred.

Very useful resource for Salesforce development

If you are planning on any Salesforce development or taking the DEV 401 exam, this book is for you. It effectively covers all the major topics in depth to gain a full understanding of the process and what’s going on “under the hood”. Although certain chapters such as the one covering formulas do cover more than what is on the exam, it allowed me to fully grasp the concepts. Rest assured if I do need to leverage custom formula functions or fields I feel full capable after reading this book. I’ve read multiple Salesforce practical guides and this is the first to not just skim over the top of major topics like automation, workflows, formula fields, and functions. Outside of Salesforce’s official documentation this book will likely be my go-to source. I have also been curious about leveraging Salesforce’s web-to-lead forms, which Philip covers very well in it’s own chapter, customizing/debugging and all.

Will I ever write code again?

Great book. This reminded me that code really is a sequence and structure of logic... It's extremely hard to do complex things visually or with formulas, but somehow Salesforce has found a way and Philip has communicated it. I also really enjoyed slogging though the comprehensive list of functions. While that sounds tedious, the real world examples provided really help to internalize it. If you're struggling to understand what junction objects are, this book pays for itself in 3-5 pages. Comprehensive with lots of gems!

I am very pleased with both the content

Although I am not completely finished reading the book yet, I am very pleased with both the content, the layout, and approach that Mr. Weinmeister uses to explain the extensive list of functionality. I have found it an important and necessary accessory training tool to compllement the Trailhead training modules in Salesforce. I actually think I can learn how to program again after so many years of being in a different occupation.

More zombies, more puzzles, more fun.

Caliban Cove is the first original novel based on the survival horror storyline from the popular Resident Evil games. Author S.D. Perry deserves kudos for delivering the expected goods and keeping them fresh, threatening, and interesting. The story picks up shortly after the events at the Spencer Mansion have concluded and the surviving S.T.A.R.S. members disgraced by the slimy tentacles of the Umbrella Corporation. Adding insult to injury is the discovery that their own organization is a part of the monstrous conspiracy. Raccoon City S.T.A.R.S. team member Rebecca Chambers joins up with a Maine based branch that is intent on digging up evidence of Umbrella's misdeeds at the company's Caliban Cove facility. What the team does not know is that the unstable scientist in charge of the research there has become completely detached from reality, creating an army of zombies and monsters and a plan to infect the world with a stronger, airborne variant of the T-Virus.
The pace of the book is every bit as quick as The Umbrella Conspiracy, but it reads far better. More like a story than a playing out of a video game's puzzles and obstacles in narrative form. Perry shows she has both a solid grip on the ideas and concepts that drive the games as well as a talent for expanding those into an entirely new story without loosing touch with what makes the universe of the Resident Evil games so addictive for its numerous fans. Highly recommended.

A non-stop thrll ride

I regret I didn't read this book the day I got it. I let it sit for a few weeks and when I fnally picked it up and began to read, I was totally blown away by it. It opens up with some espionage action, then an all out fire fight. Rebecca even killed someone! Even the trip to Caliban Cove was interesting, with a new enemy waiting for them. I'm trying not to spoil it too much. And Karen, John, Steve, all new characters, all marvelously well done. Unfortunately, it would be a good idea not to get too attached to these characters, the end is quite a surprise.

This book was fantastic! I was immediately enthralled the second I picked it up. If you're a fan of the Resident Evil games, you'll definitely like "Caliban Cove". It doesn't follow any particular storyline of the games, but the references and familiar characters from the games are very enjoyable. It's also very suspenseful. You won't be able to put it down until you finish it! Even if you've never played Resident Evil, but you like sci-fi horror/action, you should check this one out. If you don't...then you should probably skip it. That's my two cents.

Not Just the History, but The Men Who Made History

This series of "Aces" books from Stackpole is both excellent and eye opening. Most of us who are interested in the history of World War II know the general stories. We know the broad pictures of what happened, when it happened and so on. What was missing, and I didn't even know it, was a sense of who were these men who fought so hard for so long for what most of us thing was a very bad cause.

This book tells the story of seven of the Luftwaffe Aces. Not just fighter pilots but people in all branches of the Luftwaffe: bombers, night fighters, ground support. These men (usually) had joined the Luftwaffe a few years before the war, and unless killed were still flying at the end of the war. They each completed hundreds, if not a thousand missions - not to degrade the 25-35 missions flown by the 8th air force crews.

These men were the best the Luftwaffe could put up. And good men they were. Frank Kurowski, the author of numerous books on World War II has put together a masterpiece.

A hard read indeed

Not for want of trying, I just can't pick this book up for more than a few minutes at a time. What should be an interesting insight into the players lives as Luftwaffe pilots, slips into an incoherent, cut-up, poorly flowing and badly written book that really needs to be completely re-written.

Having many well written books on my shelf covering the Luftwaffe I have to say I find this book very hard to recommend. Try your local library before spending your dollars.

Great book

There is a notable lack of detailed biographical info on many Luftwaffe pilots. Schnaufer and Kittel are legendary, while some like Weiss and Havighorst are less well-known, but deserving of attention. The information is interesting, well-written and would definitely be useful to anyone interested in the individual Luftwaffe members, most of whom do not have full biographies on them.

It had to become one among the most famous books in the world, but not only because it was partly made by Leonardo da Vinci and printed during his lifetime. He drew fifty nine of the sketches it includes, which form the earliest work from the artist’s hand to appear in print. Luca Bartolomeo de Pacioli (1445-1517), Italian mathematician and Franciscan friar, wrote the full text of it. He and Leonardo da Vinci set forth a way of describing the visible world in terms of its common geometrical elements, what he calls the "divine proportion", equally known as the "Golden ratio". Even the layout of this book, which we may find somehow surprising today, Pacioli and da Vinci drafted it on a geometrical grid with respect to the divine proportion.

De Divina proportione also is one of the most remarkable illustrated books published in the sixteenth century. Based on the writings of Plato, Euclid, and Vitruvius, and arguing his thesis by means of exegesis and the generous use of evocative illustration, Pacioli claims that this proportional element is shared by a variety of solid bodies, from human anatomy to architectural forms and even to the composition of the letter’s design in the Roman alphabet.

Today we don’t know how many copies of De Divina Proportione were printed in Venice by printer Paganinus de Paganinus. Two surviving copies only exist, one at the Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan, and the second at the Biblioth�que de Gen�ve in Geneva, Switzerland.
For the intersection of art and science and the active engagement of the pre-eminent genius of the period, Leonardo da Vinci, this is one of the most iconic works of the Italian Renaissance. The clarity of both the written material and Leonardo’s diagrams gave the book a popularity beyond mathematical circles. It has since then been reprinted several times and translated in many languages.

Not quite what I expected.

Maybe the fault is mine for the expectations I had with it. I thought a "facsimile" was an edition imitating the original. On the contrast, this is a completely modern textbook with scans of the original pages printed in each shiny white page.
It's very uncomfortable to read, and it should be noted that the text offers no translation, and it's in Italian.
The material in it is invaluable though, but I am quite disappointed.

About the Author
David Frawley (Vamadeva Shastri) is one of the few Westerners recognized in India as a Vedacharya or teacher of the ancient Vedic wisdom. He is the author of numerous books and articles on Vedic Topics including Ayurveda, Vedic Astrology,Vedanta, Hinduism, Yoga and Tantra, as well as translations and interpretations from the Vedas. Dr. Frawley has been given many awards for his work in India including the Veda Vyasa award by the International Institute of India Studies. He is a Jyotish Kovid through the Indian Council of Astrological Sciences, and is also the President of the American Council of Vedic Astrology, the American offshoot of the Indian council; He has a Doctor s degree in Chinese Medicine and has also been certified as an expert through the University of Poona for his knowledge of Yoga and Ayurveda. He is presently Director of the American Institute of Vedic Studies.

Excellent overview of Hindu Tantra

David Frawley has done a fine exposition of Hindu Tantra. He not only knows the subject well, but he also can convey it in a readable and lucid manner. He clears away many of the misconceptions that have risen around Tantra since the New Age movement has appropriated it. Its not about "sex" as many purveyors would want you to believe. Most westerners think that the 'Left hand Tantra' is all there is. Wrong. It is a authentic and very real path of spritual realization that is very comprehensive in its practice.
After Frawley dispels the misconceptions he proceeds to define aspects of Tantra and the various paths within it. Then the bulk of the book deals with the Ten Mahavidyas or wisdom goddesses. Now some of them are really hideous or nightmarish visually. Be forwarned!
5 of the goddesses comprise each an aspect of the divine as I understand it. The other 5 deal with personal transformation. He gives instructions on how to worship each one, along with mantras and yantras, with visualizations of each goddess.
Later chapters deal with the chakras, pranas, tejas and ojas.
Overall a fine introduction to Tantra.
I have only a few quips.
1) It is not a instruction manual per se. Yes he lists the various mantras - however its nearly impossible to learn a mantra from a book. A audio CD would be a fine complement for the next edition. Get Harish 'Tools for Tantra' for the practice methods.
2) The Yantras and drawings of the goddess should be done in color.
If you're interested in knowing more about real Tantra get this book. You won't be disapointed.

Inner workings of the real Tantra

July 2014: Since writing many book reviews of the past, much has changed, I have discovered much more. I have come to see and have had exposed many of the deceptions and errors associated with Gnosticism, this even after becoming a Gnostic priest. My faith in Christ has been my anchor and I press on with him who shed his blood for me. I am tempted to delete many of my reviews, as I have already done; time will tell.

For those who are interested in purchasing this book, I would recommend using the 'Search inside this book' feature. The contents pages alone made me want to get this book. Now let me just add, for those who are looking for the usual pop culture, westernised, multiply your orgasms and awaken your kundalini in no time flat, new age Tantra; don't expect this here. This book is for those who have gone through all of this and desire the real stuff. Yes you'll only get from this book according to where you are at. As far as I'm concerned, this book contains a great mystery. No wonder George Feuerstein, in the Forward chapter of this book, rebukes Dr. David Frawley for spilling the beans on such gems of hidden wisdom.

For those who have made the connection with the divine feminine and the kundalini, this book gives such profound inner wisdom as from the original Vedic tradition. There is a wonderful section at the back of this book which reveals that "Hinduism and Buddhism are two formulations of the same yogic tradition, differing in approach, but not in essence". This for the main part is also inclusive of the Ten Wisdom Goddesses, as described by Dr. David Frawley. The ten wisdom Goddesses are not Pagan Goddesses of the Hindu or Buddhist religion of a by gone era. Sadly this was my misconception for many years and even worse. No the Ten Wisdom Goddesses, as described in this book, are different emanations of the divine feminine aspect of God; more importantly, they are aspects of the divine feminine within each of us.

So why does Kali hold a sword in her hands? What are the yantras and mantras associated with each of the 10 forms of the wisdom Goddesses? What are tejas, ojas and Prana; and how does one go about balancing these in an effort to correctly awaken the Kundalini? This book gives the answers to these questions and more.

For those familiar with Samael Aun Woer, I have been told that he stated near to the end of his earthly existence, that the profoundness of the Divine Feminine has been overlooked and underestimated in the esoteric work. It only makes sense to me to further understand the truth of his words by investigating and understanding who and what the divine mother is, in all her intricacies. This book by Dr. David Frawley is a profound work to help in this investigation. I can only thank him for condensing this information and for revealing such hidden secrets to us in the West.

Tantra and Hinduism in general is often confused with Black-Magic and Sexuality, however this book provides an excellent and traditional view against such false propeganda. Tantra in it's true context is Spiritual and Right-Handed and Dash-Mahavidya or the worship of the Ten Mother-Goddesses is perhaps one of the best ways to understand the Hindu philosophy of Advaita Vedanta. The book provides meditations, yantras and mantras of the goddesses and excellent guides to understanding their relation with Nature and the Divine!

Poets, Be Aware!

My name is Karen Ter-Sarkisian. My poet SOLITUDE is on the first page of MY copy of the book. After receiving The Colors of Life I was proud for a while. I thought since my poem was on the very first page, it was the best, or one of the best poems in the collection. Until I found out the truth: every poet has his or her poem on the first page of their copy(s). This is a trick: making you to believe that you are the best in order to make you send more poems, spend more money. Vanity Publication-that how it is called. To pay in order to be published. Each participant poet must pay $49.99 for their copy which regularly would be no more than $15 retail price. Vanity publications don't have any value for our career as poets. Now, if someone is willing to pay couple of dollars (no more than that) to purchase this book, go ahead, there are some really good poems, but also really bad ones as well.

I don't read much poetry, but someone very close to me wrote a wonderful poem that happened to end up in this book. So of course, I automatically love it! But, I also found many other interesting, and varied, poems while browsing through the rest of it. It is a fun collection written by a wide range of people - some professional writers, others who just write on the side. All in all, a charming book, and I love it! I'm glad they printed this.

About the Author
Dan Lambert EDD, is associate professor of Youth Ministries at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, AR. He has been involved in mission work in the Ukraine and Bosnia. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Youth Ministry Educators Association and is general editor of YMEA's publication, The Journal of Youth Ministry.

Every church needs to read this book

I am currently a seminary student working on my M. Div. in Christian Education. Many of the most important facets of the teaching/learning process are covered in this book; these are the same things I am learning in graduate school. I have not read the book yet, but after thoroughly looking through it I intend to use it extensively in my course work this semester. This book does not provide a watered-down examination of the teaching ministry of the church. Instead, it gets to the core issues teachers face as they try to teach to learners who learn in different ways. Though it is scholarly to some degree, EVERY church needs to read this for their teaching ministry, no matter how big or small!!!

This book is a great resource for anyone involved in working with teenagers. This book provides a good balance of theoretical and practical information for those who desire to make a difference in teens lives through teaching. Dr. Lambert does an excellent job of emphasizing the lack of and need for good teaching in youth ministry. I strongly recommend this book as a read through and resource for every youth pastor, leader, or volunteer.
