The book is a very well written introduction to algebraic topology. It presents the main basic results, provides geometric insights and computational tools. After reading it one really feels confident and one whishes to go further : the book really is what the title says. It is therefore perfectly suited for a first reading.

1. The new (re-issued red) edition has many new misprints.
2. The mathematical formulas might look better (they are not typed in TeX);
3. Old-fashioned notations: A-B for A\B, fg for composition f and g and so on.

A wonderful insider's view into Kodak films and its manufacturing processes

This is a wonderful book that reveals the inner workings of Kodak's films and the manufacturing process and equipment. The author, a long time Kodak employee, was given unprecedented access to photograph inside Kodak and to talk to Kodak's engineers, chemists, and scientists. Unfortunately the book is now out of print, but the author's web site says he may resurrect this book in January 2014.

A book that tells the truth about teaching in an urban school . . . and yet you'll laugh!

An honest, yet humorous, depiction of what really goes on in an urban school. This is not one of those super-teacher-turns-the-school-around books, thank goodness! All teachers can relate to the frustration, chaos, heartbreak, gratification, and hilarity that makes up the crazy world of education. This would be a great gift for a teachers, but also for folks who think they know what goes on in schools, but haven't a clue.
