Beautiful and useful

Finally, Thornburg has put out a long-awaited updated version of his Bay Area Rock, which was last published in 2001. Everyone who climbs regularly in the Bay Area should have this book. Jim has been climbing in and around the San Francisco Bay Area since he was a teenager in the '80s, and you can tell he has first-hand knowledge about all of the areas in the book. It's true there are a few errors here and there, but you can't beat it as a comprehensive guide to pretty much all climbing areas within about a 2-hr drive of SF. Also, it's beautiful and can double as a coffee table book on your rest days.

Must-have guide for the Bay Area

This book is the best available for climbing in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is highly detailed with lots of photos of the crags. It's accurate, helpful and good to get climbing inspiration if you're new to the area. Moreover, Jim Thornburg is a world-class climbing photographer so the book also looks very pretty.
