About the Author
Christophe Galfard holds a PhD in theoretical physics from Cambridge University. He is coauthor with Stephen Hawking and his daughter on their first YA book, George's Secret Key to the Universe. In the past few years, he has given talks, and written a live show, about our universe attended by more than 130,000 people, of all ages and educational backgrounds.
Ray Chase graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in theater and a minor in cinema and television. He has since worked extensively as a voice-over artist. Among his dozens of audiobook narrations are Ian Douglas' Heritage trilogy and Robert Olen Butler's Christopher Marlowe Cobb thrillers.

Been on my nightstand for a month. A delightful and informative guided tour from the smallest to the biggest: string theory to beyond the observable universe. Not dry and no math. I'm gonna read it again.

Highly recommended for any non-scientist who wants to get a feel ...

I can't praise this book enough. Although at times I had to read a few paragraphs more than once, I've been well rewarded for the effort. It is clear and conversational in tone, but at the same time delivers the science in concise and accurate doses (even when the science is not all that clear in itself). I confess to tuning-out to "string theory", but perhaps at a later time I'll give it another look. Highly recommended for any non-scientist who wants to get a feel for what those scientific-theorist are proposing as the present state of our understanding of the universe.

Maybe the best combination of story telling and physics I've read. This book offers a unique vantage for accessing complex ideas associated with time, space, the universe...our origins and our future. Clearly distinguishes what we know from what we think (and why), as well as making our pure guesses (for now) quite evident. Layered with important moments of history and discovery. A must read!
